My take on
REA (morluto/rea) after using it with Claude Code to copy the game 2048:
- โ
It did what it promises. Claude Code used REA to look inside the real 2048 website and rebuilt the game from what it found.
- ๐ It went deeper than looks. The site draws on a canvas, so REA pulled out the scripts and Claude read the real rules, like "a new tile is a 2 nine times out of ten".
- ๐ฎ The copy works. One HTML file, arrow keys, merging, score. I played 40 moves with no errors.
- ๐ข About 7 minutes, and it needs Node 22 or newer. Native apps need Ghidra, IDA or Hopper, which I didn't try.
- โ๏ธ Use it responsibly. Copying an app's code or design can break its license; a simple game like this is a fair test.
"I pointed it at a famous game and got back a working copy in one file. Reverse engineering for regular people."
